The Institute’s first-level academic diploma is legally equivalent to the University’s three-year degree for the purposes of public competitions and access to two-year university courses – subject to verification of debts and credits, and special conditions imposed by some Faculties.
The Institute’s second-level academic diploma is legally equivalent to the University’s specialization degree.
The diplomas of I.S.S.M. (Higher Institutes of Musical Studies) are a required or preferential qualification for access to competitions for places in orchestras.
The four-year diploma in Music Didactics has qualifying value for classes 31 and 32/A (Music education in 1st and 2nd grade secondary schools), provided that you also have an upper secondary school diploma and another I.S.S.M. diploma.
The courses established pursuant to Ministerial Decree of 8 November 2004 (Law 143/04), reserved for secondary school teachers who have 360 days of service in classes 31, 32/A (Music education in 1st and 2nd grade secondary schools) and 77/A (instrument in middle schools with a musical focus) have the value of teaching qualification.
